Good Riddance/Kill Your Idols Split

I was fucking around on my guitar for the first time in months, trying to play some Kill Your Idols (did I mention how terrible I am at guitar?) when I kept defaulting to their song “I Told You So.”  Since I’ve been on such a huge kick of their split with Good Riddance lately, I decided I should post about it even though it’s old as shit (released back in 2001), but maybe some of you haven’t heard it or forgot about it. Two […]

Kill Your Idols, Violent Society Live In Philly (7/29/17)

2017 was one of the few years that I didn’t head to any day of the city of brotherly shove’s annual This Is Hardcore, but I did head to Underground Arts for the stacked after show featuring Kill Your Idols and Violent Society.  I love both of these bands and would easily go to a show featuring one of them, so having them both on the same bill just made me fucking ecstatic. I got to the smaller room at Underground Arts, and while not […]

NateFest Day 1: Kill Your Idols, Bigwig, Grade, None More Black Live In NJ (3/21/15)

Every now and then, something will happen in the punk and hardcore community that just reminds me what I love so much about it.  This past Saturday was an excellent example of that.  When Nate Gluck from NJ’s Ensign was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, a bunch of bands and friends decided to throw him a huge benefit show to help pay the cost of the treatment.  The fest (dubbed NateFest) was to take course over two days at GameChanger World in Howell, NJ […]

Kid Dynamite, Kill Your Idols, Black Train Jack Live In Philly (8/8/13)

Faithful housewives readers, I know it’s been a few weeks since my last post, but between moving, jobs, and life… things have been busy to say the least.  But last night I was lucky enough to head out to Philadelphia’s THIS IS HARDCORE FEST, over at the Electric Factory to catch one of my all time favorite bands Kid Dynamite play alongside with Kill Your Idols.  Kid Dynamite announced that this was their last Philly show ever, as they are breaking up after a European […]

Kill Your Idols – From Companionship To Competition (For fans of Negative Approach, Kid Dynamite, Black Flag)

If you’re familiar with NY hardcore at all, chances are you know Kill Your Idols.  The Long Island group have brought their punk blended hardcore to a small but incredibly rabid fanbase before disbanding in 2007 (although they are playing a reunion show with Kid Dynamite here in Philly soon… stoked.)  Before they parted though, they left us with their third and final full length From Companionship To Competition. On FCTC, Kill Your Idols play incredibly aggressive hardcore, and on this album they are EXTREMELY […]
