NOFX – So Long and Thanks For All The Shoes (For fans of Screeching Weasel, Dillinger Four, The Queers)

NOFX is a band that really does not need any introduction, so I’ll keep this post short.

In their 26 year existence, NOFX released more records than that Hilton girl has STDs (ok, that was too easy), and “So Long and Thanks For All The Shoes” is definitely one of their best. If you haven’t listened to this one in a while… well, that’s what we’re here for, to bring back your past ghosts.

Also, I’m curious: what’s your favorite NOFX album? Let me know in the comment section.

  1. Punk in Drublic was the first NOFX album that I ever heard and remains my favorite. I saw them live around that time as well and it was a blast. If I remember correctly (and I surely may not), Hepcat opened for them.

  2. I love NOFX. I downloaded a grip of there stuff back when Napster first hit the grid when dial-up was still standard. Those burnt discs have yet make it onto my newly acquired hard drive so I haven’t given them a listen in a while. Thanks for the reminder.

My favorite album is “Pump up the Valuum”

I trying to recall a song of theirs, maybe you know it. All I can remember is that the beginning of each line in a verse corresponded to do-re-me-fa-so-la-te-do.

    Do you know it?

  3. Margin:
Yeah, Punk In Drublic is probably my favorite, although the first I heard was Heavy Petting Zoo.

That sounds like an awesome show, I’ve only seen them on Warped Tour years back.

  4. YA! That’s it!

NOFX takes me back…as soon as I get off work I’m gonna go find all the stuff I have of theirs and have a field day.

    ahh…this is why I enjoy music blogs…

  5. if you don’t like nofx you don’t like punk, for me it’s a toss up between valuum and drublic for best album, love their sloppy drunk live shows, fatty seemed to be drinking cocktails the last time i saw them and hefe told us all about his diarreah, oh yeah and they played somekiller punk tunes in between the drinking and banter

  6. Brad:

Glad you found the song, and helped you reconnect with these drunk mofos.

Yeah, it’s so true… they completely are wasted at their shows and talk for a decent amount. I’ve also heard of them playing a show where they went on stage and said they were going to be “Half-FX” for the night, and only played songs about half way through…
    what dicks.
